The Hollywood Matador

The Hollywood Matador is the fourth animated cartoon short subject in the Woody Woodpecker series. Released theatrically on February 9, 1942, the film was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures.

Notes

• The Hollywood Matador marks the final time Danny Webb provided the voice for Woody.

• The Hollywood Matador was the first entry in the series directed by veteran animator/director Alex Lovy. He would direct (or co-direct) the next four entries in the Woody Woodpecker series.

• Its original title was The Mad Matador, but the Motion Picture Society for the Americas convinced Lantz to change it to The Hollywood Matador, as with modificating 200 of the 600 feet of film (which featured Mexicans without shoes and one sleeping), as the association feared that theater owners in South America tried to avoid the showing of the film.^[1]
